Title: VNC2 unused UART pins
Post by: dman on February 03, 2022, 01:35:31 PM
Hi, reading the Vinculum-II guide I see it mentions that peripheral pins don't have to be defined if that peripheral isn't used.
(eg, you don't have to define the SPI pins if SPI isn't used)

But what about unused pins of peripherals that are used ?
In my case I'm using the UART with just RX and TX with no flow control to print debug info to a terminal.
Do DTR,DSR,RCD,RI and TX_Active etc. still need to be defined, or are they free to use as GPIO pins ?

Hi,

Have a look at https://ftdichip.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/AN_139_Vinculum-II-IO_Mux-Explained.pdf (http://url)

This explains the VNC2 IO Mux, which shows the user what pin functions can be applied to IO pins of the VNC2.

are you able to email in to support1@ftdichip.com so we can discuss further?

Best Regards
