Title: FT_Prog on Windows 10
Post by: esterill on November 28, 2017, 05:29:48 PM
Has anyone else had a problem running FT_Prog on Windows 10 64 bit?  FT_Prog starts but crashes soon after the Scan button is pressed.

FT_Prog-CmdLine.exe also crashes after scan with the following:

Unhandled Exception: System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
   at FT260_NET.FTDI.EEPROM_Init(Byte address, FT260PROG_EEPROM_TYPE eepromType)
   at FT_Prog.ScanDevice.ScanForDevices(List`1& deviceList, UpdateReadProgressDelegate status)
   at FT_Prog_CmdLine.commandClass.scanCommandHandler()
   at FT_Prog_CmdLine.commandClass.selectCommand(String command, String[] arguments)
   at FT_Prog_CmdLine.commandClass.readCommand(String[] args)
   at FT_Prog_CmdLine.Program.Main(String[] args)

I don't have any other problems on the machine.  The latest FTDI drivers for FT232x are installed and our FTDI devices are working normally.

Yours Hopefully..
Pete

Hello,

It has been found that some other HID-class devices (some MCU debug and in-circuit emulator pods for MCUs are USB HID class for example) can cause an FT_Prog exception when it scans for HID-class FT260 devices. The development team are currently investigating but in the meantime we would advise to check for other USB devices such as debuggers (a USB keyboard and mouse should be fine) and to try un-plugging these when using FT_Prog.

Any progress on this issue? I am experiencing the same problem on my Windows 10 laptop even with all USB devices disconnected.

FTDI? Can I provide you with any information that will help you fix this problem?

My 5p:

The latest FT_Prog messes up LG 27MD5KA-B Thunderbolt display backlight settings on Windows 10 when it scans for FTDI devices: screen backlight blinks every 0.5s during scan and ends up being very dim (one can hardly see anything on it). The workaround is to start the scan again and unplug the display from PC during it. After replugging it might end up with the original backlight settings.

Hello,

Please try this beta version:

FT_Prog_v0.0.94.440 Installer.zip (http://ftp://u45902898-ide:Ftd1$erv@ftp.ftdichip.com/CES/FT_Prog_v0.0.94.440%20Installer.zip)

I am experiencing the same problem on my Windows 10.
Is there a solution for scanning with multiple devices connected?

I confirmed by FT_Prog-CmdLine.exe on 3.8.128.448 and 0.0.94.440.

I tried this.

Hello,

Which error are you seeing in this case? If you use the GUI version below can you successfully scan the devices or do you get an error?
