Title: Issue with ESP32-CAM and FTDI232 on MacBook Pro 2017
Post by: pharmonie on June 19, 2020, 10:45:39 AM
Hi,

in Arduino I installed esp32 V.1.0.4 and selected the Board "Al Thinker ESP32-CAM" and I tried "ESP32 Wrover Module". For both, the USB port doesn't show up.

I use a 2017 MacBook Pro 15-inch, 2,9 GHz  i7, MacOS is the latest version, I installed the latest version of CP210x VCP Driver and the version 2.4.2 (latest) of ftdichip.
In https://www.ftdicommunity.com/index.php?topic=409.0 (https://www.ftdicommunity.com/index.php?topic=409.0) I found a link to http://www.ftdicommunity.com/index.php?topic=505.0 (http://www.ftdicommunity.com/index.php?topic=505.0) doesn't help.

I tested my usb cable with my GoPro and it is working.

The USB port is working with an ESP8266 - the /dev/cu.SLAB_USBtoUART appears.

Hello,

I have no knowledge of the Al Thinker ESP32-CAM or the ESP32 Wrover Module, do these include FTDI ICs?

Can you take some screenshots of the devices in the hardware monitor similar to the attached screenshot?

Best Regards,
