Title: VCP Latency on Mac Catalina and Big Sur
Post by: colinbroad on October 26, 2020, 11:31:19 AM
Some time ago I modified the FTDI VCP driver version 2.3 for Low latency, I have successfully installed this on multiple versions of Mac Operating systems the last being Catalina 10.15.6.

Will I have to do the same for Big Sur as it will not support .kext drivers or will the new .dext driver for Big Sur  include latency control in the same way as provided on the windows drivers?

Hello,

We are currently working on a .dext driver for the newer versions of macOS.
My current understanding is that the Info.plist file will be used in a similar way to .kext drivers to alter latency options within the driver.

When will the new .dext version of the VCP drivers be available? Big Sur is out now, and our customers are losing access to our devices from Big Sur machines....

Hello,

Unfortunately, currently our version of the .dext VCP driver is not available for release yet.
I'm hoping that a beta version of the driver will be available soon, and I will share a link for this when it is.
