We know that other ICs will create COM port. But we have chosen the ft260 part for its higher baud rate and it is supporting the USB to RS485 application.

As per datasheet, It is clearly mentioned that, it should be used as USB to RS485 converter and also the application circuit is also provided for the same in datasheet.

So we have used this chip in our design and we have done lot of boards. The board contains many other sections also. So it will be a big cost impact for us, if we have to change the design only for this ftdi chip.

Is there any way in terms of software or hardware, so that we can use this device as a serial converter. Please help us to resolve the problem without going for design change.
