Discussion - Hardware / FT601 FIFO Master External Clock

Hello, I'm using a FT601 with a XC2C256 PLD as the FIFO master and in my current test setup I have the clock generated by the FIFO feeding into the PLD so both have the same clock line. I was wondering if it's possible to have a different clock than the FIFO be used as the clock for the FIFO master (which would be slower) and if possible what considerations should be kept in mind.
