FT4222H QuadSPI Mode Max Throughput Question

(1/1)

Gijun MUN:
In the datasheet of FT4222H, it is called Max Throughput 52.8Mbps when in SPI Master Mode.

I am wondering how to get Max Throughput value in QuadSPI Mode.

There is an attached file.

Question 1. As in Figure 2. does Max Throughput 52.8Mbps mean the transmission rate of 16bits (DATA0 & 1) DATA?

Question 2. I think Payload = 17.6 Mbps as shown in Figure 3. Are there any problems with the calculation of Max Throughput and Payload?

Thank you.

FTDI Community:
Hello,

Yes, the maximum throughput of 52.8Mpbs is to calculate the Data phase throughput, but the data size is not 16 bits, it is 10K bytes.

If CMD and ADDR phase are counted into the calculation of Max Throughput, 17.6Mbps is a reasonable payload on the FT4222H device.

Gijun MUN:
I'm sorry, but I'll ask you another question.

10K bytes? I didn't see it in the Datasheet.

Where can I check it?

Is Max Payload Throughput of FT4222H Device 17.6Mbps?

if not

As in the attached figure file, is Max Payload Throughput 52.8Mbps?

QSPI Timing of FT4222H Datasheet is Data0/1 16bits (2Bytes), so it is difficult to understand.

Thank you.

FTDI Community:
Hello,

Sorry, we don’t show how to calculate the Maximum throughput in the Datasheet.

For the calculation of max payload throughput, the payload is 10Kbytes and throughput is 52.8Mbps.

Figure 5.2 in FT4222H Datasheet is just an example for transferring data in Quad Mode, not for calculation of Max throughput.
