Hi All,
I am working on a project where I have a USB to Serial FTDI chip, Exactly a FT220XQ-R, I have gone through some of the documentation provided by FTDI and managed to change USB Descriptors using FT_PROG Utility. like Enabling Serial Number and Automatic load of VCP driver. However I know that in order to use this device in a new computer the FTDI Standard driver must be installed.
Is there a way of setting this FTDI chip USB to Serial Device so that the drivers are loaded automatically or they are installed automatically once the device is plugged in a windows machine ?
I am just guessing that maybe as long as the host PC has an internet connection it may be possible to make windows download and install the right drivers ?
Cheers !

Hello,
If the host PC is connected to the internet, the driver will be automatically downloaded and installed via Windows Update.
The other option is to preload the drivers on the host PC using the setup executable (https://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/CDM21228_Setup.zip).
Best Regards,
