Using USB -> RS485 converter to support PROFIBUS devices
« on: March 16, 2020, 02:58:13 PM »

Hello, everyone

I have USB-RS485 converter named USB-RS485-WE-1800-BT and I want to know, if anyone has experience with creating communication between this converter and PROFIBUS device. Since PROFIBUS and RS-485 share the same physical layer, in theory, it should be possible to make communication with PROFIBUS device.
I heard that PROFIBUS in itself is a closed standard and that it is not so trivial to simply derive it from it RS-485.

By the way, I wanted to use this converter in pair with Raspberry Pi 4, so in pair with D2XX drivers for linux for ARM processors.

Thank you in advance for any advice and information
