Ft260q-t instead of ft232r
« on: September 30, 2021, 07:35:48 PM »

Hello everyone,

I am working on a project that need an FT232r cable to convert UART to USB. The cable work fine but we are planning to use an IC on the board instead. Unfortunately, FT232 ICs are out of stock everywhere.

Is it possible to use FT260 instead ? we don't need a specific application. Only convert UART to USB.

Thank you,

Hello,
Yes, both parts can be used as USB to RS232/RS422/RS485 Converters

Hello,

According to datasheet, DCNF0 pin should be set to high and DCNF1 set to low in order to enable UART communication. Is there any other configuration I should consider to allow the IC to act as TTL-232R cable converter?

Thank you,

Hello,
Link below is for our application note AN_184 - FTDI Device Input Output Pin States.  Page 38 details the FT260 part.
