FT232R Write Error
« on: April 27, 2023, 12:00:57 PM »

Hello,

I am working on a board which uses the FT232R. My goal is to update the serial number so I can identify various boards and its COM Port. I tried the software example 4 (available at https://ftdichip.com/software-examples/code-examples/csharp-examples/) but am I getting a write error when writing the new data to the EEPROM, but I get no issues when reading the data. What might be causing this issue?
Thank you!

Hi,

What hardware is it you are using exactly?

i ran the example and was able to change the serial number without any issues. You could try using our programming utility FT_PROG to change the serial number as an alternative. it can be found on our website here: https://ftdichip.com/utilities/.

Best Regards

Thank you for the reply.

I am using the FT232RL IC.

With the FT_PROG I am able to change the Serial Number, but once I hit rescan the old SN appears. How can it stay persistent?
